Watched the Minecraft movie last night, so I have some...thoughts...
I wouldn't say it's a good movie, or a bad movie. It's definitely a movie of all time.
It was more cringe bad than actually trash bad. Some of the references to the game definitely felt shoe horned in (like where Jack Black said "first we mine, then we craft", where it feels like it was just there for the memes). I already felt like some of Sonic's game references were cringe and shoehorned in (like where he said "I guess I had a bonus life" in Sonic 1), but those weren't as bad as some of the lines in the Minecraft movie.
But do I dislike the movie? No. It's not as bad as I thought it'd be going into it, and it definitely got a few laughs out of me. I haven't really been a fan of Minecraft since middle school (aka: 6-7 years ago), so I'm definitely not the target demographic, but for a kid, or someone who just wants to have something funny to laugh at when drunk or something, I'd say its fine? It's definitely a "so bad it's good" kind of film, not abyssmal trash.
The movie didn't even pace itself that well. Jack Black infodumped everything at the audience in the first 2 minutes, there was like, barely any time to digest it. The only actually good part imo is the villager romance. That was the part I was hoping would be good from the trailers, and it delivered. I'm a big fan of the wedding subplot from Sonic 2, and that was very dumb and funny, so the villager romance subplot was right up my alley. It didn't have the theatre laughing as much as the meme lines (yes, the theatre cheered at "flint and steel" and "chicken jockey"), but it made me chuckle a lot.
My overall thoughts: Not as bad as I thought it'd be, still not good, villager romance was the best part.
